Note that if you use a wok, you should use a little less water - using the full cup concentrates at the bottom of the pan and takes too long to evaporate, making the broccoli soggy. We thought this was a little bland - might use chicken stock instead of water next time, add some red pepper, and possibly use more garlic. Great mix of veggies and good procedural recipe - tasted pretty good, and will continue to use and tweak.

Made this dish with a few adjustments and it turned out delicious!

I marinated the chicken thighs in soy sauce and grated ginger before cutting them up - thought the chicken would be bland otherwise and I'm glad I did.

I also sauteed the mushrooms separately before adding the broccoli, etc. so they would saute vs steam and added a couple carrots for color.

Served with brown rice and it was a hit! Will say I used more fresh ginger and garlic than called for, as I typically do. :)

I made this recipe as directed. It was very quick and everyone loved it. I added some additional vegetables (asparagus and carrots) and it was great. I will make it again!

I used the coconut milk/curry variation. When cooking chicken take care to limit time to 3-5 min as recommended, partially cooking only to loss of pink color. Otherwise high cooking heat chars chicken, with resultant charred taste as you do your final stirring and collection of chicken bits

My kids said this was too bland. Even worse, leftovers the next day were not appetizing at all. I would not recommend this recipe.

Felt this was more suited to two servings but ymmv. Suggest splaying chicken breast before cutting into pieces. They’ll plump a bit when cooked anyway.Used a little bit of soy, a little bit of fish sauce, a swirl of sriracha, and glug of sesame oil just for so. Sprinkle of home ground five spice and there no chance of it being bland.Cooked in a deep pan on an induction stovetop and the result was tops, especially over brown rice. Bookmarked this one!

I left out the mushrooms but piled on the veg- added carrots, onions, napa cabbage, etc. and served it on a pile of rice. Threw in some crushed red pepper with the ginger and garlic, and some hot sauce along with the soy. Lovely lovely.

Used a little less water and a lot more garlic and ginger (equal parts)Deglazed wok with showshang (yes I can’t spell it) and it was incredible

found, like many others, that this recipe was a little bland and made the broccoli soggy. Would recommend adding crushed red chili as well as some red and yellow bell peppers for a little more flavor and color. If you have the time, marinating the chicken in ginger garlic beforehand also really helps it absorb the flavors much better

Completely agree with the note about too much water if using a wok.

Great! I used frozen chicken gyoza instead of the chicken thighs. I fried them before making the stir fry and then added them back in at the end. Very quick and easy!

I made this as per the recipe, using chicken thighs, and found it to be pretty bland. Some sesame oil helped, but if I made it again I would add additional flavoring.

I enjoyed it but only because I added some star annis. Pretty bland flavors suggested, I would certainly throw in some other stuff but it was good.

Diane

Faked it with leftover ingredients. Combined cooked beef and cooked shrimp. No mushrooms, so added carrots. No scallions, so added onion. Added a bit extra of garlic and ginger. Added 1/2 tsp fish sauce. Skipped step 3, because protein was already cooked. Very yummy!

Ann

Meh. Too much liquid, very bland.

Followed the recipe except doubled the garlic and ginger. Very good. Very fast. Perfect weeknight meal after working late.

Apr16- okay - made with frozen veggies, chicken and mushrooms. No hoisin, just soy. edible enough

Alex

Followed recipe as is but added green beans, spinach and red pepper flakes. I thought this was delicious. I would probably use less soy sauce next time (even if just 1.5 tablespoons) because it was a bit salty - and I didn't sprinkle any additional salt.

NSGourmand

A few dashes of 5 spice powder rounds out the flavor nicely. I also added a little corn starch slurry using the liquid left in the bottom of the pan when everything was cooked through and took care of the liquid so that ingredients weren't left to boil.

Used minced jarred garlic and ginger and frozen brocolli as a shortcut for a weeknight dinner, and this turned out better than it had any right to. Added a pinch of crushed red pepper in the last step that gave the dish a comforting warmth without making it spicy for my toddler. Served with rice and it was liked by all.

JBH

I marinated the chicken in lemon juice and olive oil for an hour first. Delicious!

Dax

Great recipe, but watch the salt.
