Stanke has a long history in the Miss America competition

Her victory Thursday wasn’t the first time she has worn a crown.

As a 13-year-old she first competed in the Miss Wisconsin Outstanding Teen organization. Stanke won Miss Wausau’s Outstanding Teen in 2016 and then in 2017 captured the Miss Harbor Cities’ Outstanding Teen. She became Miss Wisconsin Outstanding Teen that year.

She continued her success a few years later becoming Miss Madison in 2020-21 (she was a semifinalist in the Miss Wisconsin competition last year). Stanke came back this year and won Miss Badgerland before taking the Miss Wisconsin 2022 title in June.

Stanke's platform is 'Clean Energy, Cleaner Future' as she promotes nuclear power

Her social impact initiative is “Clean Energy, Cleaner Future” as she champions for America to turn to zero-carbon energy sources as well as eliminating misconceptions around nuclear power.

She has said her father, a civil engineer, was influential in her to go into nuclear engineering. She previously told the Oshkosh Northwestern that nuclear science helped save her father's life during treatments for Hodgkin's Lymphoma.

When she gets into profession, Stanke wants to be an advocate for nuclear energy and influencing policies to better the environment. Through it all, her goal is to inspire young girls get into the STEM fields.
